Pay Phone is the first of four Appisodes. Taking place on the 26th day of Jax Teller's incarceration, Jax is waiting in a line to use the telephone. A Russian inmate, Ivo Alexei, comes from the back of the line and stabs Jax multiple times with a shiv. The line clears out and Jax is left bleeding out onto the floor. This is the cause for the murder of the Russians in the premiere of the Season 4.
Piney and Tara is the third of the four Appisodes. On the 85th day of Jax's incarceration, a pregnant Tara enters the clubhouse to find Piney sitting alone, eating. He tells her that Gemma is in the office but she says she is there to see him. He offers her a cup of coffee as she puts her jacket on the back of the chair across from him. She says "no, thank you" before sitting down. He offers her a bite to eat to which she also declines. She says she wants to know more about John Teller's death. She asks if he thought it was suspicious to which Piney says "he was hit by a semi". She empathizes but asks if it could have been more than an accident, perhaps due to the club having so many enemies. He insists it was an accident before trying to rush her off. She informs him of having read a letter John had written. She says that Piney was his best friend but that he didn't trust Clay. Piney doesn't want to hear any more of it. A calm comes over him before he tells her that whatever she wanted to know, she really didn't, and that she should focus on her family and to "stay out of the club business". He's worried that she will get herself, Jax, or their two sons hurt. He sees she is saddened and tells her that whatever she read was "dead history". He gets up and walks off, leaving his steak, and his coffee, sitting on the table. Tara slowly gets up, holding her stomach, as the camera focuses on the picture of John Teller that was hanging on the wall behind them. She picks up her jacket, and as she walks off, crossing in front of the photograph, the scene fades out.
Second Son is the second of the four Appisodes. Taking place on the 196th day of Jax's incarceration, Gemma and Tara are sitting at a table talking when Jax enters. Gemma jumps up to give him a hug. He hugs her, and then hugs and kisses Tara. He tries to shrug off the injuries received from being attacked while waiting to use the pay phone. Jax gets to see his son, Thomas, for the first time. Tara didn't bring Abel, saying he had a cold, but would bring him next week. Gemma leaves to give Jax and Tara time to talk and Jax apologizes for not being there. Tara says that Gemma was in the room with her, to which Jax also apologizes. He promises never to be gone for anything like this again. Jax and Tara embrace while Jax holds Thomas between them. He comments "he's beautiful" as the screen fades to black.
Mexican Basketball is the last of the four Appisodes. On the 305th day of Jax's incarceration, Tig, Happy, and Juice play basketball in the prison yard. Clay, Jax, and Bobby discuss the new business venture with the Galindo Cartel. They agree to vote on it. Tig brings Clay into the game and Bobby asks Jax why he is so eager to back Clay's decision, being that it's just "an easy fix". Jax tells him that he's not looking for an easy fix, rather "something to make all this shit worth it". He tells him that "we need this, Bobby" and "don't try to kill it". Bobby is in disbelief and Jax marches away.
