Falling Skies
The strength of the local Espheni and Rebel Skitter forces now that both of their leaders have been killed. Karen Nadler replaced the Espheni Commander, commanding the entire eastern North American forces, she was killed shortly after the arrival of the Volm reinforcements. A new rebel Skitter has taken over after Red Eye's death, and continues to support the human resistance and their new allies, the Volm.
When the 2nd mass destroys a crucial Espheni base, a relentless enemy is taken down and the Mason family is reunited with those who had been lost. But the arrival of more interstellar players puts the fate of the Earth's remaining survivors in doubt.
Tom uncovers confidential intelligence about the heart of the alien operation. When a mission goes terribly awry, Tom and Pope must rely on each other to survive. Meanwhile, Weaver and company search desperately for two members of the 2nd Mass who have gone missing. And Marina takes matters into her own hands in Charleston, disregarding Tom's authority.
After the people of Charleston defeat another alien attack with the help of new advanced weaponry, Tom is invited to meet with a powerful leader. While Hal wrestles with an invasive evil, Ben struggles with his identity and the notion of being human again. And Anne uncovers startling new information that puts everyone in jeopardy.
The two-year anniversary of the alien invasion is fast approaching as the people of Charleston prepare for another potentially devastating offensive. In the interim, Tom has been elected to political office, but he has his hands full as the resistance continues to battle the alien invaders. Tom's decision to have the rebel skitters fight alongside humans creates tension and raises suspicions that someone may be feeding secrets to the enemy. Meanwhile, Hal struggles with nightmares that seem so real, he has difficulty knowing if he's awake or dreaming. And Tom and Anne prepare to welcome their baby.

After Tom was brought onboard the Eye in the Sky, the Espheni, Scorch, revealed to Tom that the Black Hornets are Rebel Skitters that have been genetically engineered to mindless drones. The season's plot focuses on the 2nd Massachusetts' discovery that a large community of survivors has formed in Charleston, their journey there, and their reception once they arrive. It focuses on the discovery that the Skitters are themselves "harnessed" and mind-controlled by the invaders, but that some of them are resistant to the effects and are rebelling against their Overlords.
Falling Skies focuses on the resilience of the survivors and their determination to maintain their humanity when all else has been destroyed. It is a tale of endurance, commitment and courage in which everyday people are called upon to become heroes. They may be outmatched, outnumbered and outgunned, but nothing can beat the human spirit. Most of all, the series is about the ties that bind people together in the most difficult of circumstances.
