A man hires Paladin to deal with his father Esteban, who believes that he is Don Quixote. Paladin soon discovers that he has been hired in the hopes that he would kill Esteban, but would rather defend the knight errant than harm him.

A miner tricks Paladin into taking his son for a month as the stakes in a poker game. However, he has second thoughts when he learns that Paladin plans to give the boy a bath... and an education.
