The special explores the themes Grits, Guts and Glory to reveal the true character of Yukon gold miners, including fan favourites Big Al McGregor, Nika Guilbault and Chris St. Jean.

Big Al puts his health on the line to break even; Nika's brother surprises Chris with a sudden decision; Ken & Guillaume dig deep for one final pay day; and Karl fights water & time as he tries to top his 1,000 oz. goal.

Big Al makes a last ditch effort to keep sluicing; Bernie learns old timers may have taken more gold than he thought; Karl brings in help to try and hit his 1000 oz. goal; Chris & Nika check their gold haul with one of their investors, Chris' Dad.

Chris sluices 24/7 but Nika's kid brother gets in the way; Big Al is shut down again; Ken & Guillaume's plan to run two sluice plants turns into a double disaster. And Karl & crew hit hot gold, then go to a Yukon golf tournament.

Season starts as Big Al returns to gold-mining, in a wheelchair, Bernie clashes with his son Jarret, Karl finds big gold right away, and Chris reunites with partner Nika & their three small children.
