The daughter of a local official was found murdered in a small Altai town. After examining the case, investigators assume that this crime is connected with a number of other unsolved murders. Investigators Belova and Terekhov take Grek and the shaman into custody. The latter gives a vague tip: Alym was killed by a certain Maxim Vorontsov. The case takes a new turn when Grek's eldest son arrives at the department, accompanied by a family lawyer.
