Roberto is suspicious of Zuleica. Irma is surprised by the coldness of Trindade's reception. Zuleica makes clear to Tenório her opinion about Maria Bruaca's rights. Alcides tells Maria Bruaca that he is thinking of taking Tenório's life. Erica tells her father that she had a miscarriage and hides the truth from José Lucas.
Eugênio finds Renato and Roberto adrift and helps Tenório's children to return home. Marcelo tells Guta that Maria Bruaca is on José Leôncio's farm. José Leôncio advises Alcides to leave. Guta asks Zuleica for help to convince Tenório to leave his mother alone. Guta threatens Tenório, given the possibility he shows of doing something against his mother.
José Lucas is devastated by José Leôncio's absence from his marriage to Érica. José Leôncio ends up complying with Filó's request to host Maria Bruaca, but makes it clear to Alcides that the pawn is abusing his kindness. Zuleica worries when she learns that Roberto and Renato left by boat alone. Trindade advises Alcides not to involve Muda in revenge against Tenório.
Juma confesses to Filó that he can't stop thinking about Jove. Tadeu catches Alcides talking to Muda. Tenório and Zuleica argue. Old man from Rio tries to convince Juma to forgive Jove. A ghost entourage lands on the farm. Tiberio asks Muda what his wife went to do in Juma's tapera. Maria Bruaca says goodbye to Eugênio. Mariana puts the mansion up for sale. José Lucas tells his father that he will be married soon.
Muda and Alcides ask Juma if they can count on her to kill Tenório in the tapera. Muda tells Alcides that Maria Bruaca is in the hut. Marcelo proposes to Zuleica to sell the house they used to live in to invest in a new business. Alcides invites Maria Bruaca to go away with him. Filó goes to the tapera to try to convince Juma to return to Jove.
Zuleica forbids Tenório from harming Maria. Marcelo is shaken to discover that he is not Tenório's son. Irma warns Mariana that she won't let anyone touch her son. Marcelo confronts Zuleica. José Leôncio learns through an article published in the newspaper that José Lucas will become a career politician. Muda and Alcides look for Juma to address a common interest to the three.
Maria Bruaca asks Guta to forget about her. Guta decides to leave the farm. Miriam and her team are perplexed to see Jove meet a gentleman that only he can see. Jove is astonished to find out that the farmer was the Velho do Rio. Zuleica reveals to Guta that Marcelo is not the girl's brother. Guta tells Marcelo that they are not brothers.
Marcelo consoles Guta, who is worried about her mother's whereabouts. Trindade advises Alcides to forget what happened in Sarandi. Tadeu shows resentment when he tells Zefa that José Leôncio does not treat him like a son. José Leôncio and his peons help to arrest the hunters who were on the farm. Guta has the impression that he sees Maria Bruaca in the hut.
José Leôncio tells Guta and his brothers that he wants to talk to Tenório before answering about a possible partnership with them. The Old Man from the River tells Juma that he is worried about Jove. Tiberius scolds Alcides for making fun of Zachieu. Ingrid fears that the image of José Lucas could harm her family, but Ibraim thinks about using her future son-in-law for political benefit.
Irma agrees to go to Rio de Janeiro to see a doctor, at Mariana's request. José Leôncio and Filó get emotional when saying goodbye to José Lucas. Juma tells Muda that she just wants to know about the child she is expecting. Mariana warns Trindade that she doesn't want him to interfere with Irma's trip to Rio de Janeiro. Tadeu complains to Trindade, saying that José Leôncio only has eyes for Jove
José Leôncio sends Jove to fetch José Lucas. Zefa is perplexed to see Maria Bruaca in the hut. José Leôncio discovers that Érica is pregnant with José Lucas. Ibraim asks José Leôncio to convince Érica to terminate the pregnancy. Juma feels the distant way Jove treats her. Ibraim thinks of taking political advantage of Erica's marriage to José Lucas.
Juma's heart sinks when the Old Man from Rio advises him to send José Lucas away from the tapera. Eugênio doesn't like to take a picture with Erica's father. Irma encourages Zaquieu to become a pawn. José Leôncio doesn't like to know that Ibraim is a politician. Erica is embarrassed when Ibraim tells José Leôncio what his daughter and José Lucas have done to them.
José Leôncio doesn't knock over Juma's tapera. Marcelo feels jealous to see Guta arrive home accompanied by Jove. Irma is surprised by Trindade's blind conviction about her pregnancy. Filó tells José Leôncio about Irma's pregnancy. José Leôncio tells Jove that the silver saddle will be left without an owner, until his son resolves the situation with José Lucas.
Guta doesn't like to see Zuleica and her children take care of the farm. Juma gets upset when José Lucas says he loves her. Guta shows hostility in dealing with Zuleica. Irma tells her mother that she is pregnant. Maria Bruaca refuses to stop with the punt when she sees Tenório and Zuleica on the riverbank. Jove encourages José Leôncio to take down Juma's tapera.
