A gunman opened fire in Atlanta on Friday afternoon near the campuses of both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Emory University, killing a police officer who was responding to calls of an active shooter, officials said. Israel is facing growing backlash from Arab states and European allies after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced a plan for Israel's military to take over Gaza. Detroit Lions safety Morice Norris was taken off the field in an ambulance after suffering an injury in the team's preseason matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. The Lions and Falcons agreed to suspend the game in solidarity with Norris, and the Lions now say his condition is "stable."
