Sharing the moment with them was NBC's Molly Hunter who brings us the sights and sounds of this historic day. The Trump administration is sharing new plans to change the air traffic control system. The plan will likely take three to four years and cost billions of dollars. The proposed changes include a brand-new radio system, fiber optic data feeds and new radars. NBC News' Tom Costello reports from Washington, D.C. The home security video shows a car that investigators believe was Bryan Kohberger's making repeated passes near a house where four Idaho college students were stabbed to death. The footage obtained by "Dateline," which has never before been seen publicly offers a new angle into the turbulent events around the time prosecutors believe the students were murdered. Keith Morrison reports. Friends of Pope Leo XIV are celebrating his election tonight. The first American pope was born in Chicago. NBC News' Shaquille Brewster reports. On the second day of the conclave, Cardinal Robert Prevost was elected as the first-ever American pope. White smoke billowed out of the chimney above the Sistine Chapel Thursday evening. The U.S. and U.K. announced a new trade agreement to lower trade barriers for each country. It's the first trade agreement since President Trump paused most of his tariffs, in order to negotiate new deals with other countries. NBC News' Gabe Gutierrez reports. Pope Leo XIV was born in Chicago and worked extensively in Peru and Italy. His brother says he loves to play Wordle and recently watched the movie Conclave. NBC News' Anne Thompson reports he was close to Pope Francis and wants a church that builds bridges.

At 3:55 a.m., air traffic controllers for the airspace above Newark Liberty airport experienced an approximately 90 second disruption to communications and radar display according to the FAA. The latest outage comes as Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy is outlining plans to update the country's air traffic control system. NBC News' Senior Correspondent Tom Costello reports. Friends of the new American pope are signaling how he might tackle thorny political issues on the world stage. An X account in his name has re-posted messages expressing disagreement with President Trump's immigration policies. NBC News' Molly Hunter reports. Pope Leo XIV celebrated his first mass as pontiff as some of the cardinal electors shared what led them to his selection. NBC News' Lester Holt spoke with Cardinal Blase Cupich, who said the cardinal electors were looking for someone multilingual, who had lived on more than one continent and had pastoral ministry experience. There are gripping new details from Dateline's investigation into the murders of four college students in Moscow, Idaho in 2022 – providing the most comprehensive look yet into the actions of accused killer Bryan Kohberger in the days after the murders. Pope Leo XIV spent more than two decades in Peru as a missionary and priest, and he served as Bishop in Chiclayo, where there were widespread celebrations in the streets today.
