Cedeira has been the scene of two crimes in just a few months. Maite and Tomás are convinced that the same person was responsible for the two murders.
Pulling on one of the threads left by Amparo with her last words, Tomás and Maite begin to get closer, unknowingly, to the truth and they have to hurry if they want to prevent whoever killed her from doing it again.
Months after the raid, the investigation into Amparo's murder has ceased to be a priority and is on its way to becoming one of many cases that remain unsolved. Maite returns to her position and tries to resume the investigation.
Cedeira prepares for the traditional 'rapa das bestas', perhaps the last if the mine project is approved. After being removed from the case, Maite feels so out of place that she agrees to collaborate with Tomás in her private investigation.
While Amparo is buried, the investigation into her death continues. One of the hypotheses being considered is for political reasons, but there is another suspect who has no alibi and her car fits the description.
Amparo Seoane, the mayor of the Galician town of Cedeira and the most powerful woman in the area, is murdered. Investigating the crime will become an obsession for Maite, a civil guard sergeant, and for Tomás, the only witness to the murder. For Maite, searching for the murderer is an obligation. For Tomás, a Literature professor without many life horizons, it is the opportunity (possibly the last) to live a story like the ones he is passionate about reading, and perhaps thus be able to tell it.
