Reuben and Jess salvage stone from a quarry using huge machinery. With winter ending, they're eager to turn rubble into cash, but first must fix a stubborn loading shovel. Tommy enlists the team - and a helicopter - to help repair a 3km stretch of the coast-to-coast trail high in the Yorkshire Dales. Back at the farm, the Owen family recall Miles' emergency helicopter rescue and reunite with the medics who saved his life. Reuben helps Jess herd some very determined sheep.
Reuben sets about renovating a 200-year-old tumble-down cottage to sell on. With a gap in digging work, he and work mate Sonny set about clearing out the old property. During the excavations they discover an old well which little brother Sidney helps them investigate. Reuben also helps new girlfriend Jess round up her flock at her family farm.
Reuben and Tommy are tasked with delivering a giant tree to their local market town for Christmas, but the pressure is on to get it there in time for the light switch on. During the holiday season, as Reuben's rusty vintage tractors need repairing, Sidney shows he's a dab hand at welding in the workshop. The whole team celebrate the year just gone and toast the year ahead.
With winter approaching, it's time for Reuben and his crew to learn new skills to use in the colder season. The most pot-holed lane on the Owen's family farm is in urgent need of repair. However, as Reuben's team have never tarmacked before, it becomes a family challenge with mum Amanda, dad Clive and brothers Miles and Sid all joining in to help.
Reuben takes on a new apprentice - his 18-year-old brother Miles. Together they excavate a giant pond for friend and farmer Adam. But when heavy rain fall turns the sodden clay ground into a bog, it's not long before the young apprentice gets a digger stuck axel deep and Tommy is called on to help save the day.
Reuben turns 21 and returns with new adventures, fixing tractors, unearthing surprises, and working with family in The Yorkshire Dales as he builds his machinery business.
