In the final episode of the series, probation finishes for UK recruits Maggie Hamilton and Michael Wilson. Maggie's dream of being a police dog handler is revived, and Michael returns to Perth from Halls Creek. Jay Khan and his wife Zen make a big decision for their family and Anna Miller gets her work-life balance on track.
Life on the beat in Perth is great for most of our UK Recruits. But for Anna the constant shift work means less time at home and more pressure on her husband, Andy. From the Academy to probation on the beat, it's make-or-break time for our UK Officers. For most, they love what Australia has tooffer. The Khan family have embraced life in Perth so fully that they've decided to make it permanent by purchasing a plot of land. However, Constable Anna Miller is struggling with the shift hoursand missing the kids.
UK recruits Maggie Hamilton and Darren Royle are starting to feel like West Aussie cops as they settle in at Perth's central station. Anna is struggling with her work life balance and after talking to her shift partner Sam Outram, hopes to be able to work part time. The Royles go on a camping trip, their first ever Australian holiday, but it doesn't turn out quite as planned. Maggie's dog Ruby finally arrives from Scotland after her long journey and time in quarantine. Michael is still working in the remote town of Halls Creek and gets a very unusual reptilian call out.
This episode sees Anna hit the first milestone in Australia without the support of family and friends, Isabelle's 8th birthday. With the added pressure of night shifts and a far-from-happy work-life balance, Anna is left questioning her decisions. Meanwhile, Jay is settling into his new station, with his lunchtime curries a hit amongst the team, however, life at home is not so smooth. His wife Zen is missing her family and starting from scratch in a tight housing market is daunting for the family. Michael is sent for a 2-week stint in an isolated community where a police force of 19 officers covers a jurisdiction half the size of England.It's remote, hot, dusty and he'll be enforcing laws unique to North West Australia.
From first days on the beat to stressful house-hunting, the reality of life in Perth hits our rookiecops.
After three months of intense training, Maggie and Darren are ready to hit the streets as official WA Police Officers. Meanwhile, after months of searching, Jay Khan has secured a rental for himself and his family. Jay hopes it will live up to his wife Zen's high standards. For Ben Woods, after weekly facetime calls with his sister and newborn nephew, the reality of what he is missing out on has finally sunk in. Although he is loving his new life in Australia, Ben is torn between the loved ones he has left behind and the amazing life he has created for himself in Perth.
We are introduced to our final wave of UK recruits, Darren, Maggie and Michael. Ben L is unsure whether he'll stay in Australia and Jay has his first day out on the beat.
The Royles say goodbye to family and friends in the UK as they make the mammoth move down under. Darren is moving to Perth with his wife Sarah and two young boys. Moving to Australia was not always on the cards for Sarah but she hopes the sunnier climate will be worth it. Arriving in Perth Michael is greeted by his cousin Lucy who emigrated many moons ago, although sad to say bye to his family he is excited for the adventure ahead and delighted to see a familiar face when he arrives. This episode also sees Jay Khan on his first shift at Cannington police station. Carrying a firearm for the first time he is apprehensive about his first day on the job. Meanwhile, back at the academy, Ben Lindley is having a crisis of confidence, feeling the pressure of the training and missing family and friends, he is left questioning if the move to WA was right for him.
Ben works his first day at Perth station, which coincides with Christmas Day. Anna's family celebrate Christmas at the beach and Anna sees in the New Year on the beat in Armadale.
In Episode 2 sergeants Ben Woods and Anna Miller begin their lives as official West Australian Police Officers, while recruits Ben Lindley and Jay Khan start their journey down under.
Leaving behind his wife and kids, Jay is determined to focus on his training and find a home for them all before their family reunion in three months. Meanwhile, Ben Lindley struggles with the intensity of academy training and hopes he has made the right decision.
