Veteran Christy LaVallee's journey began in Frederick, Maryland, where the call to serve was a powerful and guiding force in her life. With a strong desire to serve her country and inspired by family and experiences, Christy made the pivotal decision to enlist in the Army. Christy achieved the rank of Specialist (SPC) in the Army Reserves, serving a notable deployment to Kandahar, Afghanistan, from 2010 to 2011. Her role as a combat support military police officer exposed her to life-changing experiences, including a harrowing IED blast that left a lasting impact on her and her team. These experiences, while traumatic, also forged a profound sense of resilience and dedication. In recognition of her bravery, Christy received several commendations, including the Purple Heart, Combat Action Badge, and multiple campaign and service medals. Despite the physical and emotional toll of her service — resulting in PTSD, hearing loss, and mobility issues — Christy remains committed to helping her community. Now working as a scheduling dispatcher for East Coast Mechanical (ECM), she continues to make a positive impact through her dedication and service. Christy's partner, Abbey Roberts, plays a supportive role in her life. Although she did not serve in the military, Abbey finds inspiration in Christy's service and shares a deep connection to nature and community. Her interests include plants, yoga, and meditation, and she aspires to volunteer at a local animal shelter. Together, Christy and Abbey are devoted to their four cats and two dogs, creating a home filled with love and companionship. Their journey reflects not only the sacrifices made in service but also the ongoing strength and support that defines their family life. As Military Makeover with Montel honors the LaVallee family, we celebrate their sacrifices, resilience, and the special bond that unites them. With the generosity of our partners and the power of community, we are dedicated to transforming their home to reflect the strength and love that define their lives. Join us in recognizing Christy LaVallee and her family, saluting their bravery, and supporting them as they continue to embody the spirit of dedication and service.
