Joiner Ian Johnson makes a start by restoring the tatty shop front, discovering beautiful period windows and the shop's old 1900s awning hidden under decades of dirt.
The volunteers are three weeks into the restoration as the hunt for stock starts in earnest, with local produce to the fore, including handmade candles from the Dales, flour from a medieval watermill, and soap scented with natural oils from a York producer. Ian wants to resurrect the farmhouse skill of butter churning. Retired police inspector Val Broadley keeps things on track as the community comes together to transform the old café, and Oli and Rachel get the Victorian oven gleaming.
