Estrellita is a young, poor peasant girl. Her mother is very ill, so she goes to Buenos Aires. Before she dies, Estrellita's mother makes the girl's father promise that he will take care of her when she is left alone in the world. Estrellita's mother dies, and the man, manipulated by his sophisticated wife, takes her to work in his mansion as a servant. There, Estrellita meets Juano, a sad man married to a woman he doesn't love, and who is only with her because he feels guilty about her disability. Estrellita and Juanjo fall in love, and she becomes pregnant. Many will try to separate them, but their love is greater than all.
