With Matías refusing to speak to her, Julia finds comfort with Cristóbal. Cristóbal stops dating Kimberly but asks her to refer clients to the struggling clinic. Meanwhile, Matías is attracted to Susana, his therapist, who is also the mother of one of his classmates. Felipe begs Alicia to forgive him for abusing her. Carla tells Cristóbal she is HIV positive—so the baby might be, too.

After a successful kidney transplant, Matías finds out that his parents are divorced and Cristóbal is his biological father. Julia comforts Cristóbal after the beating he got from Santiago. Meanwhile, Carla introduces Cristóbal to Ruben, who fathered her baby, and Cristóbal supports Ruben taking custody. And Alicia's boyfriend, Felipe, cannot control his jealousy of her friendship with Santiago.

Julia chooses having Matías in her life over continuing her relationship with Cristóbal. She also protects Alicia from her abusive boyfriend. Meanwhile, Susana has sex with Matías. Cristóbal and the baby test negative for HIV, but Carla's condition worsens. And after Santiago gives a television interview vowing to fix every person the Butcher hurt, the Butcher later attacks and paralyzes Santiago.
