At the Fatebenefratelli, Prestifilippo and Prati finalized the plan for "Ward K," a ward to isolate those suffering from a mysterious contagious disease. While Kappler organized the roundups, the Calòs refused to take refuge in the hospital.

Kappler orders an immediate inspection of the hospital. A soldier, armed with a gas mask, enters the ward where Jewish refugees are acting out symptoms of "K Disease." The soldier is terrified by the sight and retreats: the plan seems to be working. But a new threat looms.
