The 1990s. Alexey Kirsanov, an investigator at the Smolensk Regional Prosecutor's Office, receives a "black mark" from the leader of a local organized crime group without a statute of limitations, and a hunt begins for him. Kirsanov's close friend and colleague, Igor Sazonov, is being promoted and transferred to the position of prosecutor of the Yaroslavl region. He offers Kirsanov to move to a new place with him, away from gang violence.
