Carmen is a poor but sweet and honest woman who meets Gerardo, a former student of her late husband, at his funeral. After becoming a widow, Carmen goes to live with her mother, Ana, a mean and selfish woman. Days later, she meets Gerardo again, and love blossoms between them.
