Laura continues the "baby" argument with Mike, and her erratic behavior escalates.

Mike prepares to interview applicants for a new landscaping assistant to replace Charlie. Helen and Phil are setting up a nursery. Laura decides that she too would like a baby, but the problem is Mike doesn't.

While Charlie convalesces, Mike struggles to run the business single-handedly but refuses to replace Charlie with someone younger. While lending moral support to her pregnant sister, Laura finds herself thinking about having a family, too.

Laura and Mike are about to host their first dinner party when they must rush Charlie to the emergency room.

Mike makes a rather bad first impression on Laura's parents, who then change their opinion of him after Laura tells them about Mike's unfortunate childhood.
