23-year-old Egil had just moved to Oslo and is meeting some friends to see a film at the Eldorado cinema. After the movie, the group of friends gets together and eats pizza and has a good time. Shortly afterwards, a police patrol happens to find Egil lifeless in the street.

On a hot summer day in August in 1999, 12-year-old Kristin cycles from home to meet a friend for a swim. Kristin does not appear at the bathing area, and the family calls for her just under an hour later. In the evening, they are informed that she has been found murdered.
