During the investigation of a murdered Chinese man, Rex and Inspector Fabbri discover that his very pretty niece Ling Shu is missing. It is soon discovered that Ling's disappearance may be more about her father - then her murdered uncle.

Inspector Fabbri and Hedl continue to try and track down the persons responsible for murdering local jewel thieves. During the investigation Rex uncovers a vital clue - which will see one of the team in grave danger!

A series of murders in Rome is baffling the police after a jewelery robbery goes bad. When another body is found on the grounds of an Italian villa the police link it to a similar murder that occurred in Vienna. Inspector Fabbri and Chief Inspector Hedl team up to try and solve the case. Unable to find a new handler in Austria, Rex is transferred to Italy to work with Inspector Fabbri.
