The Star Princess is three weeks into her 28-day Caribbean voyage, when events and guest services supervisor Melissa from Southport finds herself playing cupid, helping frequent cruiser Phil to put the finishing touches to an engagement celebration for his new fiancée, Erin. Meanwhile, the ship's entertainment cast are approaching the end of their five-month contracts that have taken them from strangers to family, and a fresh troupe is arriving to learn the ropes, among them cruising rookie Zahra, just 23 years-old and on her first professional contract since college.
As the Star Princess approaches Belize, gusting 40-knot winds force commodore Nick Nash into an agonising call: abort the port and send thousands of disappointed guests back out to sea. It's the ship's first cancelled stop, and cruise director Dan and his team have just 20 minutes to create an entire replacement day of entertainment. And the ship's entertainment cast are gearing up for their final performance, as dancers Adam, Emma and Cassie reach the end of 10-month contracts that have made them a family thousands of miles from home.
A week into her Caribbean voyage, the Star Princess drops anchor at Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic. On board, the crew are throwing themselves into St Patrick's Day, with cruise director Dan and his team transforming the ship's Irish pub into party central. Massage therapist Charlotte has her eye on a bigger prize than shamrocks though: talking her way into DJing the guests' silent disco, currently the preserve of resident DJ Will. It's a chance to show off a talent she's kept hidden below deck.
As the Star Princess sets sail from Fort Lauderdale on its voyage around the Caribbean, cruisers take in the Bahamian turquoise waters and enjoy the formal night's 280-glass champagne waterfall.
