Asirpa reaches Kiroranke to witness his final moments and tell him that she has remembered something important. The group leaves Ako, but before going back to Hokkaido they need to find a doctor take care of Tsukishima's and Ogata's wounds.

As Asirpa remembers something important about her father, Ogata takes her away from the others and tries to get her to tell him the secret to the code. Unbeknownst to them, Sugimoto is following close. Meanwhile, Sugimoto's Group has finally caught up with Kiroranke.

Kiroranke's Group breaks out Sofia and her accomplices out of Akou Prison. After meeting Asirpa, Sofia shares her memories of Wilk with his daughter, who in her own stead remembers something very important...

Kiroranke's Group is getting ready to free Sofia from Akou Prison. Kiroranke tells Asirpa a story of the man who taught him, Sofia, and Wilk Japanese language.

Hijikata tracks down one of the tattoos to an isolated fishing port in Hokkaido. Its bearer is Yoichiro the Manslayer, a legendary assassin from the last days of the shogunate.

Sugimoto's group is separated during a nasty blizzard. One party safely makes it to a nearby lighthouse, but another is forced to camp in the middle of the snow. They make a bed under the dogs to keep warm, but...

After a brutal sniper battle, Ogata is badly ill. As he recovers, he reflects on his past, and what he did to make himself the man he is today.

As they cross the borders into Russia, Kiroranke's group finds that there's more waiting for them than they expected.

Sugimoto joins a group of traveling performers in hopes it will lead him to Asirpa.

As his group tracks Kiroranke and Asirpa in the frozen north, Tsukishima reflects how he began to be involved with the 7th Division.

Sugimoto and the 7th engage in a traditional Russian combat sport to track down one of the tattoed prisoners.

Sugimoto was separated from Asirpa after the incident at the prison. Now, he's tracked her down to Karafuto, a place even further north and colder than Hokkaido.
